I know and I am sure that most if not all are familiar with what happened to the country of Haiti, a devastating earthquake and a number of grave aftershocks shook the country into collapse and turmoil. Many are found dead and more are buried alive, some were pulled out of the rubles but most are not, thousands of children were orphaned and thousands more lost their families and loved ones. Millions worth of properties were destroyed, houses, buildings, schools, business and government establishments leaving Haiti's population in distress, no food or water, no medicine and first aid treatments, no shelter, no clothing, nothing...
The Philippines suffered the same fate, albeit, I think ours was more subtle, many helped us into climbing back up, into standing again, I think now, it is time to give back. I don't know if Haiti had sent us help or donations when we were at need, but it doesn't matter whether they did or did not, what matters is they need our help NOW and we can do our own little part to do so. A weekend without party won't kill you and you can save at least 500 bucks from it, will you be so nice to donate it? A lunch without dessert won't make you weak and you can save at least a hundred from it, will you be so kind to donate it? Buying that accessory on your next salary when you have more than enough at home is not that important than saving a life, isn't it?
Every little help counts and I think it is time to give back fellow Filipinos. Contact your local Red Cross to know more and to lend a hand.
