I have mentioned a few posts ago that we opened up a small business, a minute internet cafe to be exact, I think I also talked about the positive response that we got from the gamers and other internet/computer enthusiasts in our area, we're nearing our third month and as early as now, we are thinking about expansion - adding a few more computer units and adding other services like printing and accepting typing jobs. Though we feel the need to expand, putting it together and making it happen is a different matter as we have a lot to think about.
I was searching around the net about internet cafe business and its future, the pros and cons of expanding a business at an early stage and other related reads when I chanced upon an article about writing a business plan and its benefits. My husband and I are not business-degree holders, I took up Mass Communications and he's into IT, so, we didn't really put our business plans and dealings into writing, we just think, talk and go about it, fortunately for us, it works that way but the article that I have read made me think, maybe writing a business plan is a good or the only way to go, for that matter, specially now that we're thinking about enlarging our business.
The article that I am talking about is entitled Benefits of Writing a Business Plan, written by a certain Jason L., what drawn me to it was the line - Almost without exception, each business owner with a plan is pleased she has one, and each owner without a plan wishes he had written one. In a new entrepreneur's point of view, that line alone says it all, it made me finish the whole article in a jiffy, taking and weighing in all that I read. It was written in detail and in simple terms, allowing its readers, me in this case, to read and learn exactly at the same time without the burden of looking for meaning and explanations. It was clear and direct to the point, giving me no chance to turn my back and not to finish the article, it was, actually, a pleasant read.
I have no idea how to write a business plan but I intend to do one, it doesn't have to be formal and all, right? If I could get the immediate benefits written in that article by scribing a plan, I would certainly do it no matter what, and then from there we'll see whether we will expand or not.
