Sorry for the delay, I was too downtrodden to write yesterday... but I sure am proud to be a Filipino, yesterday's funeral will always be etched in my mind.

Now, allow me to continue...

What I know so far:

  • To make this easier, I suggest you read this wikipedia article about her, that would save me a lot of space and time *grins*.
  • She was a mother first before she became anything else, that's why her unending show of love and forgiveness to Kris was but a part of her as a good mother.
  • She was a devout Catholic, not because she went to church daily but because she did what was necessary and called for as a person of God.
  • She loved Ninoy so much, in one interview she had decades ago, a well-known broadcaster asked her if she's willing to fall in love again, her answer was, she had been married and she was happy, she had loved and have been loved that can last her more than a lifetime so another man is out of the picture.
  • She had sacrificed so much, which she didn't need or have to do.
  • She was/is loved by the Filipinos, not just by words but through actions.
  • She was the Icon of Democracy, Mother of Filipinos, First Woman President of the Philippines and the whole of Asia, Time Magazine's Woman of the Year, etc. and she deserved all that and more.
I thank her for:
  • The democratic Philippines, though a certain someone seated in Malacanang is trying hard to take it away.
  • The chance to live freely, without prejudice, without curfew, without martial law.
  • The chance to practice freedom of speech, the chance to choose and vote, the chance to go the mall without fear, the chance to hang-out and party, and the chance to blog.
  • The new and decent (I wish to think) country where I can rear my son.
  • The privilege to be called a Filipino.
I promise to:
  • To remember her through actions and not just words.
  • To practice my right to vote. And choose for the good of country and not only of myself.
  • To stand tall and proud, that I am a Filipino!
Thank you and farewell... if ever you meet my granny in heaven, please kiss her for me.
