Decisions, Decisions

I think I forgot to mention or I purposely did not mention that hubby got a car from his bosses last Christmas, nope it's not a gift and actually we still haven't decided if we'll take it or not, let's just say that my husband is still test driving his Honda Civic up to now. It is a second-hand (or third) 2001 model, the payment terms are easy and it's through salary deduction, it would be nice to have it permanently but as we have a six-year old son whose needs and wants are ballooning every day, we're kinda worried that we may not be able to pay and do with its maintenance. We have another vehicle in our care, a 1997 custom-built Wrangler, it might be old but it's still running smoothly, I admit that there were times that hubby had to asked for our neighbors' help to jump-start it but other than that, it's still doing its purpose. I know, I know, it is not as pretty as that new car but what can I do.

We could just take it and think not of the future but as we had done that several times in the past already and we're still suffering from its consequences, I can't just do it with a blind eye. Imagine the cost of a head gasket, if and when it is necessary to replace it, as far as I know, it does depend on the car name and model and as it is a 2001 Honda Civic, I bet it cost thousands of pesos and that's just the gasket, what more if it's the transmission or other motor parts. I feel dizzy just thinking about it.

I once visited a site called RepairPal who offers car repair and maintenance services, they even have a list of Los Angeles auto repair shops and mechanics, as well as that of other areas and locations. Now that I have thought about it, decision-making and life in general could have been much easier if we have a one-stop place or site like that where we can do inquiries about our car problems, compare prices both of the car parts and mechanic's fees and have that advantage to converse and communicate with other people who have the same car model or the same car problem or just there to give a hand. Hmm... then life would be a breeze.
