I am a food enthusiast and I am a voracious eater, if you need proof, I can send you some photos to show off my body excesses *lol*. Anyway, I asked a friend who works in Israel to send me a few of the country's famous desserts and pastries - baklava and halvah, I have been craving and wanting to have a taste of those babies for a while now but as my friend is so busy with her work and the chance of me getting those goodies fresh from Israel is, admittedly, bleak, we have been postponing the moment. My friend said that the shipment might take a while even if she use an air freight to send it to me as it is mandatory in Israel to check every packages, so the checking alone will eat up some time plus the actual forwarding and she's kinda thinking (and I somewhat agree with her) that the baklava and halvah may not reach me on time (before it expire and spoils). So, my craving for some of those treats had intensified through time without any clear means to satisfy it.
But just tonight, my bff called me up telling me the good news, someone recommended her eFood Depot, it is an online market where I can order some halvah and baklava. The shipping is fast with a flat rate of $4.99, I can even have it delivered for free if my purchase amounted to $75 or more and if I am lucky I can even get free gifts as some purchases/products on the list have freebies with them. So the always curious me checked out the site and I found out that they're products are not limited to Middle Eastern countries, there's Indian, European, South American and Asian food online and the varieties of products range to almost 10,000 and it is said to be growing. If you're in the hunt for those rare and hard to find ingredients, you can try you 're luck there, they might just have it, they even offer recipes and cooking demos in video - I now know how to cook Pad Thai *grins*.
My best friend and I closed the deal, she'll order and pay for the baklava and halvah for me, as she's supposed to send me some, and all I have to do is wait and expect my not-so-surprise delivery one of these days. I love my bff!
