The former President of the Philippines, Corazon 'Cory' Aquino passed away at 3:18am, Saturday, Aug. 1, 2009 (Philippine time) after battling colon cancer, the official cause of death is cardio-respiratory arrest. It was first announced on March 24, 2008 that she was suffering from cancer of the colon and that she will undergo all the necessary treatments to combat the disease, and that she was submitting herself to the Lord as she has always been a woman of prayer. Though her medical condition is worsening, she still actively participated in political and public functions, showing her endless love to the Filipinos and the democratic nation that she led to build. On June 24, she was confined to the hospital due to the spread of the cancer to the other organs of her body and her weakening state, a series and an outpouring of concerns and prayers followed up until her death early morning today.
It was said that she had her last breath as her whole family were praying the rosary, they are on the 5th sorrowful mystery to be exact. Her remains were brought at the Heritage Park and details about her funeral will be released later on a press conference at 11am.
